Snipping Tool for Windows

The Windows operating system includes the Snipping Tool as a free program. It lets you take a picture of your screen, either the whole thing or just a part of it. Screenshots can be useful when you want to show someone what’s on your screen without having to explain it in words.

Since Windows Vista, you’ve been able to use the Snipping Tool, and it’s still there in Windows 10. To find it, type “snipping tool” into the search box on the taskbar and choose “Snipping Tool” from the list of results.

Shooting in real time or putting it off?

With the Snipping Tool in Windows 10, you can take either real-time or delayed screenshots.

Real-time screenshots are great for capturing things happening on your screen, like an error message or a pop-up window. To use the Snipping Tool to take a screenshot in real time, just open it and click the “New” button. Then your screen will stop moving, and you can use your mouse to choose the part you want to capture. The screenshot will be taken and saved automatically as soon as you let go of the mouse button.

On the other hand, you can use delayed screenshots to capture things like menus or tooltips that take time to load or appear on your screen. Open the Snipping Tool and click on the down arrow next to “New” to take a delayed screenshot. Choose “Free-form snip,” “Rectangular snip,” or “Window snip” from there. Depending on which option you choose, you will need to either use your mouse to draw a border around the area you want to capture or choose a specific window. When you click “OK” after making your choice, the Snipping Tool will wait 5 seconds before taking a screenshot of your choice.

The Snipping Tool is a handy little program that comes with Windows and lets you take screenshots. It’s great for taking pictures of webpages, windows, or anything else on your screen.

Open the Start menu and type “snipping tool” to find the Snipping Tool. You can also find it in the All Programs list under Accessories.

Once you’ve opened the Snipping Tool, you can take a screenshot in one of four ways: free-form, rectangular, window, or full-screen.

After you choose your screenshot shape, use your mouse to draw a box around the area you want to capture. The image will be saved to your clipboard so that you can paste it into another program, like Paint or Word.

You can also add notes to your screenshot before saving it by clicking the “Edit” button on the Snipping Tool interface. This will open a simple image editor with tools for drawing arrows, highlighting, and text boxes.
